Blackbirds are special to me, so is my love of colour and textiles and the moon sharing the sky with the sun on a winter’s morning.  

Design shows a trapunto hand appliquéd moon with machine stitch quilted halo effect and a perky curious bright eyed blackbird pausing to look for a split second.

I had fun piecing this one together while ensuring the rendition of the blackbird was close to true. Created using brightly coloured quilt making fabric off cuts to create the patchwork background.
